Thermal Tank Qube X SQ-WDHS

Unpressurized hot water storage tank and drain back reservoir

Thermal Tank Qube X SQ-WDHS

The Thermal Tank Qube X SQ-WDHS is a dual-exchanger unpressurized thermal storage tank engineered to integrate a primary external heat source (such as a heat pump, boiler, or solar collector system) with instantaneous, hygienic domestic hot water generation. Utilizing water as an energy transfer medium, it combines maximum solar and heating efficiency with zero-risk domestic hot water hygiene.

Key Features
  • Dual Exchanger Configuration: Contains a top DHW heat exchanger and a dedicated bottom heat exchanger for energy input.
  • Versatile Heat Source Integration: Connects seamlessly with heat pumps, traditional boilers, or solar thermal systems (including drain-back and pressurized variants).
  • Instantaneous DHW Generation: Flow-through stainless steel exchanger heats tap water on demand, eliminating stagnant water and Legionella risks.
  • High Efficiency & Energy Savings: On-demand heating delivers 10–30% energy savings while water-based storage maximizes thermal conductivity.
  • Glycol-Free Operation: Non-pressurized water medium removes the need for expensive glycol solutions and routine fluid inspections.
  • Lightweight & Installer-Friendly: Modular and easy to handle, significantly cutting transport and installation labor costs.
  • Backup Power Ready: Compatible with up to two optional electric auxiliary heaters.

The Thermal Tank Qube X SQ-WDHS provides a flexible heat storage solution that bridges modern thermal generators (heat pumps, boilers, or solar thermal collectors) with instant domestic hot water needs.

It features two internal heat exchangers:

  1. DHW Heat Exchanger (Top): A high-surface-area exchanger designed to heat potable tap water continuously on demand as it passes through the tank.
  2. Heat Source Exchanger (Bottom): Positioned at the base of the tank to efficiently charge the storage volume from an external energy source like a heat pump, solar loop, or boiler.

Because the main tank volume is filled with plain water rather than glycol, the thermal transfer rates are optimized. Water’s higher heat capacity ensures rapid heat absorption from your energy source and swift release into the domestic hot water circuit. Additionally, the non-pressurized water design serves as an ideal drain-back reservoir for solar thermal systems, protecting against freeze and overheat scenarios without fluid degradation.

Ideal Applications:

  • Heat pump and boiler integrations requiring rapid domestic hot water supply.
  • Solar thermal installations seeking high collector efficiency and simplified maintenance.
  • Residential and commercial projects (HORECA, educational, and medical spaces) requiring clean, on-demand hot water generation.
