Thermal Tank Qube X SQ-WDHSU
Thermal Tank Qube X SQ-WDHSU
The Thermal Tank Qube X SQ-WDHSU is the complete multi-source thermal storage tank featuring three dedicated heat exchangers. Designed to handle complex, high-efficiency energy systems, it allows simultaneous connection to two distinct heat sources (or one source plus a dedicated space heating loop) while serving continuous, hygienic domestic hot water.
Key Features
- Triple Exchanger Architecture: Outfitted with a top DHW exchanger, a top space heating/secondary exchanger, and a bottom primary heat source exchanger.
- Multi-Source & Multi-Consumer Flexibility: Integrates multiple inputs (heat pumps, boilers, solar thermal) or provides directly decoupled heating outputs (like underfloor heating loops).
- Drain-Back Solar Ready: Serves directly as an integrated drain-back thermal reservoir for solar thermal circuits without needing glycol.
- Instant On-Demand Domestic Hot Water: Produces fresh DHW instantly on demand, cutting energy usage by 10–30% and eliminating Legionella risks.
- Water-Based Thermal Storage: Uses unpressurized water for maximum heat capacity, superior conductivity, and low maintenance.
- Lightweight Polymer Design: Easily handled on-site compared to heavy traditional steel buffer vessels.
- Dual Electric Backup Option: Supports up to two optional electric heating elements for boost power.
The Thermal Tank Qube X SQ-WD represents the ultimate, highly flexible energy hub for modern hybrid heating and hot water installations.
Equipped with three specialized corrugated heat exchangers, the tank enables simultaneous connection to diverse heat inputs and space-heating consumers:
- DHW Heat Exchanger (Top, Larger): Provides continuous, instant domestic hot water with maximum Legionella protection.
- Heat Consumer / Secondary Exchanger (Top, Smaller): Can be used to drive a space heating circuit (e.g., underfloor heating) or integrate a second energy source.
- Heat Source Exchanger (Bottom): Charges the tank volume using a primary heat source, such as a solar thermal collector array, boiler, or heat pump.
The tank's unpressurized, water-filled polyethylene body functions both as a central energy storage buffer and as a drain-back reservoir for solar thermal loops. By replacing glycol-water solutions with pure water, the system operates with lower viscosity, higher thermal conductivity, zero risk of chemical contamination, and minimal lifetime maintenance requirements.
Ideal Applications:
- Hybrid HVAC systems combining heat pumps, solar thermal, and fossil or biomass boilers.
- Installations requiring decoupled low-temperature space heating (underfloor heating) alongside DHW output.
- Advanced residential and commercial energy retrofits aimed at achieving maximum seasonal efficiency in demanding environments.
